Korean like beef strips

Today I am in the mood for some thing simple, different but tasty. I felt the need to impress my Noelwith some thing good. I know she is tired of the stir fry. Ofcourse beef is her favorite and i don't want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. So here it goes..


 Beef strips
Soya sauce
Garlic chopped
Black pepper powder
Chilli pepper
Sugar 1tsp
sesame seeds
sesame oil 1 tsp
Marrinade beef with all these ingredients.
Leave it in the fridge overnight.
In a large vessel, pour sesame seed oil, be liberal with the oil.
When the oil heats up add the beef and fry for 10 minute, then cover with the lid and cook untill the beef is tender and all the water is absorbed.
Open the lid and fry for another 15 minutes. Add green onion or chives mix well garnish with green onion and sesame seeds

Sweet potato fry

Sweet potato fry (മധുരക്കിഴങ്ങ്)

We all had sweet potato s with green chilli sauce. This is something different

Sweet potato diced  2
Chilli powder.            1/2 tsp
Black pepper              1/2 tsp
salt                              as needed
Pepperflakes              1/4 tsp
Olive oil                        2 tbsp

Mix all ingredients together.
Heat the pan add the marinated sweet. potato in to the pan. Fry for 2 minutes. Then cover with a lid for 2 min. Do not add water. repeat the process until the potatoes are soft inside. Enjoy

Potato cottage cheese casserole

Potatoes diced        4 each
Onion diced           1 medium
Garam masala        1 tsp
Turmeric                 1 pinch
Chopped green chilli  2
Butter                     1/8th cup

In a large pan Melt the butter. Pan fry diced potatoes and onion for about 15-20 minutes. Add garam masala turmeric and chopped green chilli. fry for another 10 minutes. If potatoes are still not cooked enough cover with a lid and cook until soft. Transfer the potatoes to another dish. Add 1/4 cup of water and boil until everything that was was sticking to the pan is dissolved in to the water. Add the potatoes in to the pan and mix well. Add  500 gm (1 container)of cottage cheese and mix well. Serve warm.

Mango pickle (കടുമാങ്ങ)

I bet every one remembers taste of Kanji and kadumanga we get at our churches on good friday. I don't know if it is the hunger, or the clay pot that brings the taste,Just the thought of it brings water to my mouth.

Sooo... Here comes everyones favourite Kadumanga

Mango                       1kg
Salt                             1/4 cup
Wash and dry mangoes. cut in to small pieces.. Mix the chopped mangoes with salt and store in a glass container. for a a day or two.

Gingerly oil                   4 -5 Tbsp
Mustard seed           1/2 tsp
Fenugreek (Uluva)        1/4 tsp
Heat the oil in a pan splutter mustard fenugreek

Garlic                          4  
Ginger                     1 small pieces
Add Chopped ginger, Garlic. Fry for about 3 minutes

Turmeric Powder         1/4 tsp
Cayenne powder          3tbsp
Mustard seed crushed  1 tsp
Asafoitada (kayam)  1 pinch
Vinegar                     1/4 cup

Turn the heat down add cayenne powder ,Turmeric powder and asafoitada. Stir for a few seconds. Turn the heat off. Add the mango and crushed mustard. Boil the vinegar with 1/4 th cup of water and add to the mango Let it cool off. Once it cooled off store in an air tight container. If you don't see oil on top heat some more gingerly oil and pour on top this will keep it from spoiling

shrimp curry



Heat about 3 Tbsp coconut oil in a pan. ( you can use other oils also)Splutter1/4 tsp mustard seeds and fenugreek (uluva). Stir fry 2 Tbsp Ginger Garlic chopped 1/2 of a small red onion  2 curry leaves

Add.1 tsp cashmere chilli powder 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp coriander power. Stir fry until the oil comes out clear. I did not used much oil in this but more the oil the better taste it taste.














Add 1 pkg 650 gm shrimp cleaned add 1 cup of water and cook about 15 minutes Here I used  clay pot. That is best when you are cooking fish. Very good with rice. 

Pan fried Paprka chicken



Chicken breast 1 kg
Ginger chopped 2 Tbsp
Garlic chopped 4
Onion chopped 1/2 of a small one
Tomato paste 2 Tbsp
Paprika 3 tbsp
Chilli pepper 1 tsp
In a large pan fry ginger and garlic until light brown. add onion fry fry bit more. Add tomato sauce fry well. Add paprika and chilli pepper fry until the oil comes out clear. Add chicken pieces and fry until it is cooks well.

Potato Curry




Potato chopped 2
Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
Onion chopped 1 medium
Tomato paste 2 tsp
Paprika 2 tbsp
Chilli 3/4 tsp
Oil 4-5 tbsp
In a pan fry ginger garlic paste add onion and fry until light brown. Add chopped potato and fry until slightly brown. Add tomato paste paprika and chilli powder fry until the oil comes out clear. Add 1 1/2 cup of water and cook until the potatoes are done but not too soft.
